Parents/Caregivers Consult

Who this is for?

Parent and caregiver consultations are for adults who want support in understanding their child’s behaviour, emotional needs, or development - without pathologizing their child or themselves.

This work is suitable for parents, carers, and guardians of children, adolescents and teenagers across different family structures and stages.

What brings people to this work?

Caregivers often seek consultations when they feel stuck, unsure, or overwhelmed - even when they’re trying their best.

Common reasons include:

  • persistent behavioural challenges or emotional outbursts

  • uncertainty about how to respond to meltdowns, shutdowns, or anxiety

  • concerns about school, learning, or peer relationships

  • supporting neurodivergent children

  • navigating transitions, stress, or changes in family dynamics

  • wanting clarity and guidance without judgement or blame

Often, caregivers aren’t looking for “tips” — they’re looking for understanding.

How we work?

Consultations focus on making sense of what’s happening beneath behaviour, rather than trying to control or eliminate it.

Sessions are reflective, collaborative, and grounded in attachment, development, and nervous system awareness.

We explore:

  • your child’s emotional and developmental needs

  • patterns in behaviour and responses

  • what is already working, and where things feel strained

  • practical, realistic ways to respond that align with your values

This is not parenting “training” or a one-size-fits-all model. The work adapts to your child, your family, and your context.

What sessions look like?

Sessions are usually held with caregivers only, providing space to speak openly and think clearly without managing your child in the room.

Depending on your needs, sessions may include:

  • understanding behaviour through a developmental lens

  • mapping patterns and triggers

  • exploring caregiver stress and capacity

  • discussing school or external systems

  • identifying next steps or supports

Sessions are paced to support growth and attachment at a natural pace.

FAQs

1) Do I need my child to attend?

No. These sessions are designed specifically for caregivers

2) Is this the same as parenting coaching?

No. This is a therapeutic consultation focused on understanding, reflection, and relational change rather than instruction or performance.

3) Can this work alongside my child’s therapy?

Yes. Caregiver consultations often complement individual or family therapy.

4) How often do sessions run?

This varies. Some caregivers attend for a few focused sessions; others space sessions over time.

This work isn’t about being a “better” parent - it’s about understanding, capacity, and connection

I pay my respects to the rich cultural, spiritual, and ancestral traditions of India, and to the collective strength and interconnected ways of being that continue to shape and sustain its communities. I honour the values, wisdom, and knowledge systems carried across generations, along with the enduring legacies, voices, stories, and heroes who continue to shape its identity and redefine its spirit.

I further acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which I lived, studied, and worked in Australia, and pay my respects to Elders past, present, and emerging. I remain deeply grateful for the education, opportunities, and guidance received there, which continue to shape my professional and ethical practice.
